Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children sure are growing up fast. As the Royal Family – like most people around the world – finally returns to everyday life following the Covid-19 pandemic, the royal children, Prince George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are being sighted more and more in public.

The family recently celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee, an event for which the whole family was in attendance. Yet despite the fact most people see the royals as individuals who simply mill around and count their rather large piles of money, it turns out that they actually can have jobs … of sorts.

Kate Middleton shared a secret that her firstborn son, Prince George, is busy getting his hands dirty during the school summer holidays.

As it happens, his job is quite a special one indeed …

Kate Middleton and Prince William will likely soon take a well-deserved vacation. Their children, of course, are set to leave school for the summer holidays.

William, Kate & children – summer plans

According to Hello Magazine, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will leave Thomas’s Battersea School on July 8, while four-year-old Prince Louis’ nursery school Willcocks is closing for the summer on July 6. That means that soon, the royal siblings will experience an entire summer together, playing and enjoying the great weather.

It will also most likely mean that Prince William and Kate Middleton will take a step back as regards their official duties. Given that the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was a hectic time, to say the least, we’re sure the royal couple is looking forward to a relaxing period with their children.

So, what do William and Kate have planned for their children this summer? Well, one big talking point has been the family’s home – they’re reported to be moving out of Kensington Palace.

As relayed by several media outlets in the UK, William and Kate are thought to want to move closer to the Queen, as well as Kate’s parents, who live in Berkshire. With that said Windsor is likely to be their new home, leaving the family with more space and freedom at the significant royal estate.

The frontrunner for their next home is said to be Adelaide Cottage, within walking distance from Queen Elizabeth’s private apartments at Windsor Castle.

Moreover, the Royal Family has their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall, where it is very likely that Prince William, Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will spend plenty of time this summer. William has previously spoken highly of the Norfolk home.

Prince George’s surprising summer work revealed

“We spend as much time as we can here, it’s very peaceful,” the future King said on one of the Apple Time to Walk episodes.

Not only does their Norfolk vacation home mean plenty of fun for the royal children, but it’s also helped them to learn the importance of hard work as well. Well, at least in the case of Prince George.

The 8-year-old prince – third in the line of succession after his grandfather, Prince Charles, and his father – seems to have found an interest in farms.

When visiting a local goat farm in Wales in March, Kate revealed that George likes to help out around the estate. Prince William reportedly asked the farm owners about a robot silage sweeper – which was kept in a barn – and the owner, Gary, revealed that he usually moves feed with it.

“That was George’s job at half term – moving feed,” Kate revealed.

Interestingly, it’s not the first time the royal children have been farming on the grounds of their country home. In 2020, when speaking to elementary school teacher Rhian Roberts – who also owns a dairy farm – William explained that his children have helped deliver lambs during their time off from school.

“We’ve been lambing with the children this week,” William told Rhian. “Charlotte wasn’t sure at first, but George was straight in there. Louis loves the tractors.”

“They are starting to build their happy memories here”

The summer might also include a visit to Queen Elizabeth’s Scottish estate Balmoral. The 50,000-acre estate has endless opportunities for the royal children to explore and have fun, including horse riding, cycling, and fishing. Needless to say, it’s the ultimate summer holiday spot.

“George, Charlotte, and Louis already know how dear Scotland is to both of us and they are starting to build their happy memories here too,” William said last year.

Over the last number of years, the public has gotten some insight into the family’s private life. For example, Prince William and Kate have different rules at home for their children. It also turns out that William has a neat trick to get George and his siblings ready for bed.

Now, anyone who has experience with children will know how tricky it can sometimes be to get them to go to sleep. However, it turns out that Prince William has a brilliant hack that he often employs.

“We started watching one of [David Attenborough’s] newest documentaries. It’s amazing at bedtime when I can crowd the children, just shouting ‘we’re going to watch one of David’s documentaries’ and they come herding in,” William told BBC Radio 4.

“It’s the easiest way to catch my children and get them ready for bedtime.”

That said, watching the Attenborough documentaries isn’t always a joyful affair. William recalled that Prince George didn’t want to continue watching because it saddened him.

Limited screen time for their children

“The most recent one — the extinction one — actually George and I had to turn it off,” he explained.

“We got so sad about halfway through. He said to me, ‘You know I don’t want to watch this anymore.’”

“You know, he’s seven years old and he’s asking me these questions already, he feels it. And I think every seven-year-old out there can relate to that,” William added.

And, as per reports, it isn’t just bedtime that entails strict rules for the royal children. Prince William and Kate have also made sure to limit their screen time.

In 2018, William spoke about the idea of screen time for his children, saying that balancing it is tough and challenging.

“We’re going to have that discussion with our family. How on earth are we going to police and have family time when the phones are all put down, and you’re offline,” he explained. “Because we’re all so connected now that we’ve got to say, ‘Right, for instance, we’re eating now.’”

“This generation is going to be the first generation to grow up fully immersed in mobile phones, social media, lots of stuff,” he said.

“And yet our generation, the older generation, the parent generation, we’re completely left at, ‘how do we deal with this? Where do we go to? Where do you learn about how to look after your children’s digital world?’”

Charlotte and George both go to school at Thomas’s Battersea School. According to its website, the fee for Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the upcoming school year at Thomas’s Battersea School is around $20,000.

George, Charlotte & Louis – names at school

William and Kate’s three children – George, Charlotte, and their youngest son Louis – all have the official titles of Prince and Princess. Whenever they’re on official royal duty with their parents, they will always be referred to by their royal titles.

At school, though, it’s an entirely different thing. According to Hello Magazine, George and Charlotte aren’t referred to by royal titles.

Instead, they go by George Cambridge and Charlotte Cambridge. It’s a nod to their parents’ titles, with William and Kate Middleton being the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Furthermore, it’s been reported that his classmates refer to Prince George as “PG,” his initials.

Though they’re still very young, George and Charlotte have accompanied their parents on official visits to other countries. For example, in 2016, they traveled to Canada, Poland, and Germany a year later.

William and Kate have been very outspoken about their family life. Some details, of course, they keep for themselves.

Speaking on Apple’s Time To Walk last year, William said his children love music. It turns out that Prince George and his siblings enjoy the same music as their father.

“There’s a lot of hip movements going along”

“What I’ve been amazed by is how much my children already have inherited my family’s love of music,” William said.

“Most mornings, there’s a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played in the morning. And I have to, now, basically prioritize that one day someone does this one and another day it’s someone else’s turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the clamor for the music.”

William revealed that Shakira’s hit song Waka Waka is the one song his children are in love with. What’s more, they don’t just listen to it, but also regularly get their dancing shoes on.

“There’s a lot of hip movements going along. There’s a lot of dressing up. Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything,” William explained.

“She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It’s a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around, and, and singing.”

We wish Kate Middleton, Prince William, and the children a wonderful summer. We think it’s great that George is getting to try some “normal” kind of work, far away from the royal sphere.
