Sophia Loren was only 15 years old when she entered the Miss Italia beauty pageant of 1950. Since then the actress has really made her mark on the world and today at 88 years old, she is still considered a legend.
Now her oldest granddaughter is 16 years old and has grown up in the world of filmmaking and acting.
For Sophia Loren, family is incredibly important. In 2016 she said in an interview with Al Roker on Today “I live for my family. I have the most beautiful grandchildren that I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m happy! I live a wonderful life.”
Her eldest granddaughter Lucia was born on May 12, 2006. This summer the teenager will turn 17 years old. She was born in Geneva, Switzerland outside of her home country of Italy.
Sophia has two children, her sons Carlo Ponti Jr. and Edoardo Ponti. She had her children with her longtime husband Carlo Ponti Sr. She married Ponti Sr. in 1966 and they remained married till his death in 2007.
Her children also took after their mother in their choice of career. Her son Edoardo is a director and he married Sasha Alexander, an American actress. Alexander has played major roles in productions like Rizzoli & Isles and much more.
Sasha often posts about her children Lucia and Leonardo on Instagram. She posts about how fast the children have been growing up.
The actress also boasts about her children on her account and often posts sweet wishes for them on her account. When her daughter Lucia turned 15 years old she posted a sweet picture of the mother and daughter duo, along with a caption that read, “Happy Birthday to our Lucia! 15 today! She is taller than me, definitely more organized, a thinker, a dancer, and a super funny human. What a difficult year it has been for all kids, but I must say I learned so much from Lucia and how she joyfully moved through it all. Bravo our love! Keep doing what you’re doing and never stop calling me girly pop.”
While Lucia is only a teenager, the resemblance to her famous grandmother is quite striking. The young teen has her grandmother’s expressive eyes and breathtaking smile!
